A detailed assessment of the female pelvic organs can be made simply and painlessly with the use of a high resolution, high quality scanner by our experienced sonographers.
The scan is best performed ‘trans-vaginally’ (internally) where this is appropriate for the patient, as the images are far superior than the trans-abdominal (external) approach.
A trans-vaginal scan is a completely painless procedure which involves inserting a slim ultrasound transducer, covered with a protective sheath, into the vagina. The patient can insert it herself, if she wishes. All scans are performed by a female sonographer in a darkened, locked room and only take about 10 minutes to perform.
